Make sure that you are part of this special celebration. With our wonderful community and beautiful village, we have good reason to celebrate the special occasion of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The Street will be festooned with bunting and closed on the Sunday.
Friday 3rd June from 8 pm – WSSC special evening of live music. Following the success of her visit in December, we are delighted welcome back Joanna Lee to the Cleminson Room. Jo’s superb voice and great choice of material is certain to deliver another memorable evening. All welcome.
Saturday 4th June 13.00 Willingale CC play Stansted Hall & Elsenham CC. Willingale’s Saturday XI are newly promoted to the first division of the Herts and Essex Cricket League and this game against a strong Stansted Hall & Elsenham CC should make for an exciting game. Come along, support Willingale and enjoy the cricket and the setting. Club bar will be open.
Sunday 5th June 10.30 day starts in St. Christopher’s with a service of thanksgiving for the 70 year reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. A service in the family format suited to all.
11.30 onwards tea/coffee/cakes will be served in the churchyard.
The Big Jubilee Lunch.
12.30 onwards bring-your-own picnic lunch to the churchyard where tables and chairs will be set up. Join millions of people across the UK in sharing friendship, food and fun with The Big Jubilee Lunch. Everyone’s invited, so come along to St. Christopher’s to have fun, music, ringing and get to know one another a little better. The Street will be closed making for a peaceful afternoon and safe access to the Cricket Club bar. Music will be playing and the Willingale Ringers will ring to mark the Queen’s Jubilee. Inside the church will be floral displays depicting the life of Her Majesty. Planting of a commemorative tree.
13.30 Willingale CC’s Sunday XI play Great Baddow CC in a friendly 40 overs a side game. The Sunday games are a lot of fun, a relaxed atmosphere pervades with a convivial crowd basking in the summer sun, taking advantage of the well-stocked club bar.
