The Willingale Ringing Centre
ART is the Association of Ringing Teachers a charity with a mission to improve the learning experience of all ringers by bringing together best practice in the teaching of ringing, enabling the training of teachers, providing a progressive learning scheme and recognition for learners. For more information – ART: excellence in ringing teaching.
The Willingale Ringing Centre is based in the church of St. Cristopher’s and provides all the features of an ART ringing centre. The Centre offers ringing training to complete novices through to more experienced ringers. The practices, polices, etc. of ART are followed and successful students receive ART certificates.
The bells of St. Christopher’s were restored in 2012, they are an easy to ring peal of six of average weight. The ringing chamber is light, bright and airy, formed by a mezzanine floor in the tower fully visible from the floor of the church, access is by an inclined ladder negotiable by able bodied people. The bells are fitted with a simulator using Abel software and David Bagley sensors. The Centre has teaching aids.
The church has a toilet, tea/coffee making facilities and light lunches can be provided, check the training course details.
The Centre teaches by following the ART processes and the local ringers make up bands within which students learn to ring. Students are welcome to join the practices and social activities of the local ringers. All tutors are ART qualified and have valid DBS checks.
